Few teas smell as lovely as jasmine pearls. Each little pearl is a green tea leaf rolled by hand, then scented with fresh jasmine blossoms until it carries their perfume. Drop a few into hot water and watch them slowly unwind, releasing a soft floral aroma and a pale golden cup. It's a soft, fragrant tea – a quiet ritual in a cup.

Tasting Notes

The jasmine leads – fresh, floral, and softly sweet – over a smooth, mellow green tea base. There's very little bitterness when brewed gently, just a clean, lingering fragrance that fills the cup. It steeps a pale gold and is lovely on its own, no milk or sugar. The aroma alone is half the pleasure.

Origin

Jasmine pearls come from China, where scenting green tea with jasmine is a craft refined over centuries. Rolled green tea leaves are layered with fresh jasmine blossoms over several nights, so the leaves slowly absorb the flowers' fragrance. The blossoms are picked at their peak and the layering repeated until the tea holds a deep, natural jasmine scent.

Brewing

Green tea is best below boiling – steep at 80 °C for about 2–3 minutes, using roughly 2.5 g (about a teaspoon of pearls) per cup, or one tea bag. Keep the water gentle and the steep short to stay smooth; the pearls will give you a second infusion, too. As a green tea, it carries a moderate amount of caffeine.
