ABOUT THE PLANTATION
The indigenous communities of the Bonga region, whose inhabitants are commonly referred to as the "Kaffa people", have used wild coffee for centuries, and the art of brewing is central to their culture.
This precious Indigenous Kaffa coffee is grown in the rich, deep forests of Kaffa where a small group of growers harvest only once per year, from September to January. After the ripe cherries have been carefully picked and processed, the resulting beans are dried on beds raised in the sun.
Did you know Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee growing? There is a theory that says that the very origin of Arabica beans is Kaffa. Coffee would have grown there in the wild long before humans even existed. Coffee culture is said to have been propagated by monks who needed to stay awake during their nocturnal journeys.
