Can't decide between a chai latte and a hot chocolate? This is the cup that settles it. Spicy Chai pairs Dutch-process cocoa and golden cane sugar with the warm spice of chai – cinnamon, a little pepper, the lift of star anise – for something cozy and quietly exotic. We blend it in Montréal, and it comes without milk, so the cup is yours to build – whole milk for a true latte feel, oat or almond for something lighter. The chocolate grounds it; the spice keeps it interesting all the way down.
Suggested Uses
It's made for grey, rainy days and cold afternoons when plain cocoa won't quite do. Lovely with a book, and a natural match for anything spiced – gingerbread, a slice of carrot cake. For a mokaccino, stir a shot of espresso into the finished cup.
Preparation
Add 2 tbsp (15 g) of hot chocolate powder to 1 cup (250 ml) of hot milk and stir until smooth. For extra froth, fill your cup halfway with hot milk and stir to dissolve, then froth the remaining milk and combine.
