Certified Organic Golden Cane Sugar from Brazil

Terra's Organic Golden Cane Sugar is sourced from a 100% organic crop in Brazil, certified by Ecocert Canada and grown without monoculture. It is processed using the Turbinado method – a gentle centrifugal process that removes surface moisture while preserving the cane's natural golden colour and light, clean flavour. Because it is unbleached and contains no animal-derived processing agents, it is 100% vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free.

It sweetens coffee and tea without altering their character – the natural, neutral profile makes it a favourite for specialty brewing, where the sugar should complement rather than compete. It dissolves cleanly in hot and cold beverages and works equally well in baking and everyday recipes.

Available in three formats: a 650 g canister, a resealable 1 kg kraft bag, and a box of 100 individual packets – practical for home, office, or hospitality use.

Carlo's Choice

In 2012, Terra's founder Carlo Granito set out to find a sugar worthy of the coffees and teas he had spent decades sourcing. His research led him to an uncomfortable discovery: many white sugars achieve their colour through a bleaching process involving bone charcoal, and much of the world's cane is grown in monoculture – stripping land of biodiversity to plant a single crop.

Surprised by these findings, Carlo made a deliberate choice. Terra's golden cane sugar would be unbleached, organically certified, and sourced from a farm that respects the land it works. That standard has not changed.

Every Terra purchase contributes to the Humaniterra Foundation, a humanitarian initiative supporting communities in need – one of the values at the heart of how Terra has operated since 1978.

If you want to understand how golden cane sugar compares to other varieties, we wrote a guide to sugar types in collaboration with a local nutritionist.
