Sweet and salty was always going to be a good idea. Sea Salt Caramel is a hot chocolate built on that contrast: dark Dutch-process cocoa and golden cane sugar, finished with a thread of caramel and a pinch of sea salt that lifts the whole cup. We blend it in Montréal, and it comes without milk, so the cup is yours to build – whole milk for something rich, oat or almond for something lighter. The first sip is warm and rounded; the salt arrives a beat later, and that's the part you'll keep coming back to.
Suggested Uses
It's a natural after-dinner pour, especially next to something buttery or a little tart – shortbread, a wedge of apple cake. For a mokaccino, stir a shot of espresso into the finished cup. Cold afternoons and quiet evenings suit it best.
Preparation
Add 2 tbsp (15 g) of hot chocolate powder to 1 cup (250 ml) of hot milk and stir until smooth. For extra froth, fill your cup halfway with hot milk and stir to dissolve, then froth the remaining milk and combine.
